How did Tag start?
The beginnings of TAG date back to early 2001 when Brandon and Jared Chisholm first started playing airsoft. Back then, there was only one other team in the entire state of NC, and it was based out of Charlotte. In an effort to organize and bring together players closer to the Raleigh area, they started TAG.We are now one of the oldest and most prominent teams in the state. We participate in every major event in NC and host a few of our own. We have a sponsorship from a local retailer and multiple MVT awards. TAG is a member of the NCAO and has a seat on the Team Leader Council, which is involved in setting rules and regulating airsoft in North Carolina.
How does TAG operate?
TAG is formed to be a fast, effective, and resourceful squad on the field. We are known for our speed and ability to get the job done aggressively. TAG has the tools and equipment to fill any role such as sniper, SAW, anti-tank, etc. We typically bring a squad sized element to games and operate as such. TAG is usually tasked with long range missions or offensive recon due to our survivability and speed. The elements of our patch are reflective of our team. The boot with the wing alludes to Hermes, the messenger of the gods. This represents TAG's speed and dependability. The knife represents close combat and our aggressive nature. The oak wreath symbolizes strength and authority.
How can I join?
Most of our members consist of close friends and players within the Triangle. It is very important to build relationships off the field and learn how to work with your fellow team mates in every day situations. Our level of trust and ability to predict each other's movements is key to our success on the battlefield. The recruitment process begins with you contacting one of the team captains and expressing your interest. The next step is to come out to a game and play along side TAG. We recruit based off your attitude and playing style. We look for players that are level headed, show good sportsmanship, can be aggressive, and most importantly, can keep up with the rest of us.
Where do you play?
We play all over the state and occasionally will travel out of state to South Carolina or Virginia. We have a home field that is located in Durham, and we play there about once a month. There is a game almost every weekend somewhere in the state. Most airsoft fields are also paintball fields that reserve certain days for airsoft. The average NCAO game will have about 60 players and is usually held on a Sunday. There are larger fields in Taylorsville, Star, Fayetteville, Durham, and Tabor City (SC). Check our links section for more information on playing fields. Are there uniform requirements?
Most NCAO games will have a "green" team and a "tan" team. They are based off of what camo the player is wearing. Woodland camouflage is considered green, and desert would be tan. This is an easy way to distinguish sides without having to wear armbands or other means that would diminish the milsim atmosphere.TAG does not have a strict uniform requirement. We have an unofficial team camouflage pattern for tan called "mountain stalker" that has been discontinued. We are currently searching for a custom tailor to make uniforms out of the fabric. Our green camo pattern is called "vegetato". We encourage members to purchase the team uniform, but it is not required.
